Prospective Clients
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions take place at the child’s home, school or daycare. Teletherapy options are also available for clients throughout California. While telehealth can be a great format for some clients and treatment modalities, it is not a good fit in all cases. If you are interested in telehealth, please contact me to discuss.
Do you accept insurance?
I’m not in-network with any insurance companies, but can provide a monthly Superbill to submit for possible reimbursement. If you are planning to seek reimbursement, I recommend contacting your insurance company prior to beginning services. Some questions you might ask about their out-of-network provider reimbursement policies include:
Does my policy cover out-of-network speech therapy services?
What is my out of network deductible?
Are there any conditions that are specifically covered or excluded?
Are the following treatment codes covered: 92507 and 92508? A treatment code also known as a CPT code may determine whether an evaluation or treatment is covered.
Do I need a prescription or referral?
Do I need prior authorization or precertification from my speech therapy provider?
How many sessions will be covered? Do they need to be completed within a certain time frame? (i.e. 60 consecutive days, within 6 months, calendar year, etc.)
Do I have a deductible or co-pay?
What type of documentation will you need (reports, progress notes)?
If I exceed the allotted number of sessions, but therapy is still required, can I apply for more sessions to be covered?
What are your fees?
Session fees are comparable to other Bay Area therapists and vary based on the services provided. Fees will be discussed during the initial phone consultation.
No Surprises Act: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
How do I get started?
The process begins by contacting me for a short 10-15 minute phone consultation. We can discuss your reasons for reaching out and if I may be a good fit for you/your child. Prior to beginning treatment, we’ll set up a parent intake session, usually held via video session. This helps me learn more about your child’s strengths, challenges, and current concerns, which will inform our treatment planning and therapy goals.
